The MSOT program uses a developmental curriculum design that utilizes Bloom’s Taxonomy with scaffolding of content and curriculum threads which include evidence-based, occupation-based and client-centered practice with a rural focus, throughout each semester of the program. Semester one is foundational, and students are introduced to OT to discover and remember, understand, and begin to apply content. Semester two requires students to gain a deeper understanding, further apply, begin analysis and evaluation to establish clinical reasoning skills. In semester three students participate in further application, analysis, and evaluation of processes to enhance clinical reasoning skills. Semester four culminates didactic learning wherein knowledge, skills, and attitudes are refined. During fieldwork II experiences in semesters 5 and 6, students will implement learned skills in clinical and community-based settings while applying evidence-based, occupation-based, and client-centered strategies.
